Lice combs make extremely effective lice treatments because they work with the size and habits of lice to remove them from the hair. Lice combs work similarly to flea combs. If you have ever flea combed a dog, you may have noticed that the teeth of the lice comb are so close together that the fleas are unable to pass through them. Lice combs work the same way, removing the lice as the comb is brought through the hair.
Most lice combs have a sharpish edge to allow you to remove the lice forcibly from the scalp. Lice have several sharp hooks that they use to attach themselves to the scalp. To remove them from the scalp, use the sharp edge of the lice comb to scrape along the scalp to pull the lice away from the skin. Then, comb lice out of your hair by pulling the comb through the hair so that the lice remain across the top of the lice comb.
There are a few different types of lice combs, each with its own positive attributes:
Plastic lice combs are inexpensive and easy to use, and they generally aren't as sharp as many metal lice combs. However, they break easily and make not hold up if there is more than one person with a lice infestation. They can be cleaned in a dishwasher to sterilize them for future use. And while a plastic lice comb may not last long, it is inexpensive enough to stock up on several. Metal lice combs are much sturdier than plastic lice combs. They can be used again and again and saved in case there are any more lice infestations in the future. They can be harsh on the scalp, however. This harshness is necessary to pull lice away from the scalp, but it can be difficult for some people to go through the many harsh combings that may be needed to kill lice. Electronic lice combs are extremely study, efficient and useful. They can't be washed, and they can give you a small shock if used incorrectly, but they are effective against lice and will last years. The Robi Comb is a time-tested electric lice comb that is used to comb through the hair and remove lice. However, the lice aren't just removed- they are killed instantly as soon as they touch the comb's prongs. While you hold the Robi Comb handle, the metal prongs electrocute the lice when they are found, killing lice and making it impossible for the lice you remove to fall off the comb and trouble you again.
